As part of Texas-New Mexico Power’s (TNMP) commitment to delivering clear, reliable, and inclusive outage communications, TNMP has launched a major upgrade to its outage system — introducing Spanish outage notifications for the first time.
This enhancement significantly strengthens TNMP’s customer service efforts by ensuring more households can receive timely outage alerts and updates in the language they prefer. Customers can now choose to receive notifications in English or Spanish, improving access and empowering more communities with essential information during service interruptions.
“Our new Spanish outage notifications mark an important milestone in our dedication to serve all our customers with transparent, real-time information,” said Chris Gerety, Vice President of Technical Services and System Reliability. “Providing outage updates in both languages reinforces our commitment to safety, reliability, and customer-focused communication.”
Key Features of the Enhanced TNMP Outage Notification System:
• Real-time Alerts in English & Spanish: Immediate notifications via SMS, email, or voice during service disruptions.
• Greater Accessibility: Bilingual alerts make it easier for more customers to stay informed and prepared.
• Customized Preferences: Users can choose their preferred language and tailor notifications to their location.
• Enhanced Transparency: Clear outage reports and estimated restoration times help customers plan and stay informed.
• Easy-to-Use Interface: Enables simple interaction, feedback, and issue reporting.
By signing up, customers will receive an outage alert as soon as TNMP confirms there is an outage in the customer’s area, regardless of what caused the outage (weather, vehicle, animal, tree, etc.). Customers will receive no more than 10 per hour and can opt out at any time.
Sign up for outage SMS alerts in Spanish by texting "Reg" to 30184. To report an outage, send "Apagón" to 30184. For the status of an outage, text "Estatus " to 30184.
